Book Recommendation

I just finished the new book written by Margaret Peterson Haddix entitled "FOUND."  She is the author of "Running Out of Time," and the "Among the Hidden" series.  This is her new series called The Missing.

I think that fourth graders would enjoy this book.  However, be warned that it is only book 1 and does NOT end the story.  If you are willing to wait to find out what happens after the other book are published, go ahead and pick it up and read!

Enjoy your reading!

We Loved Bolt!

We had a reading incentive program at school for the last five weeks. If the students read a certain amount, they would be taken
to see a movie.  Fourth graders had to read 9 hours during that period.

Today we went to see BOLT! It is a very cute movie. I think all the kids had a great time.

Multiplication practice

We found the coolest link to online games for practicing our multiplication facts.  My class asked me to post this link so they could find it easier at home so here it is:   http://www.multiplication.com/interactive_games.htm

Have fun and happy practicing!

Water Cycle

I found this cute movie about the water cycle.  Maybe it will help some of you students remember the things Mrs. Swasey will teach you about the water cycle.  Enjoy and learn!

BOLT

Those of us who completed our goal of reading at least 9 hours will be going to the movie, BOLT, on Tuesday. We will have an early lunch, following the younger grades. Then buses will leave at noon. (Due to numbers we may NOT take any chaperones with us this year.)

We still have about 1o students who have NOT read their goal amount. It is not too late if you work hard on it this weekend. I want EVERYONE to join us so we can enjoy the movie together. Please don't let us down - Keep reding!

Let's make this a red shirt day!

Biography file folders

We have finished part of the Biography File Folder Book Reports at school. We finshed the cover, started the bibliography, and wrote the "Important Thing" Poem.

I have taken away the timeline portion of the assignment.  The students have started a bibliography instead.

The final portion needs to be finished at home. This section is the report part: telling what you learned about your person as you read your biography. You need to answer these questions in that section:
• Where was this person born? In what year?
• Where did this person grow up?
• What does/did this person do for a living?
• Why is this person famous? What did/does this person do to become famous?
• How has this person made an impact on others' lives?
• Quotes and interesting information about the person

Write your final copy in your best printing or cursive about your famous person.
The report folder is due back completed no later than December 17th.

After Christmas we will have an oral report on your person! Sign ups will come soon.

ALL SHOOK UP!

My students loved our AHS play "All Shook Up!" They came back to school dancing and singing!

On a personal note:  It sure is fun to see former students and how they have grown up.  Good luck to them all!

Goodbye Shaelie!

Shaelie is leaving us!  We heard the bad news today.  One of our special students is moving away.  We will miss our good friend.  We wish her great luck and happiness and hope that somehow someday she will be able to return, at least for a visit.

We will miss you!

Reading Notes for BOLT!

Please remember to read daily and record the time.  We are working on earning our tickets to the movie "BOLT!"  We are so excited for this opportunity!

Thanksgiving Break!

Remember that we only have school Monday and Tuesday next week.  The rest of the week is Thanksgiving Break!  Happy Thanksgiving!

AHS Play: All Shook Up!

We will be attending the play "All Shook Up" at the High School this morning.  We have declared this a "red shirt" day!

Storytelling Festival

I love "storytelling festival" days.  It is so fun to watch the students "shine" as they tell the class and special visitors the story that they have chosen and prepared.  The students are starting to feel more comfortable presenting in front of their peers.

If we have time, we also share a Halloween Class Movie we made and have the parents join us in song.

We have a great time!
