Goodbye Mr. Henry

We held a surprise assembly this morning with the whole school. The sixth grade shared a dance with us that they learned while working with Ballet West this past week.
We then shared a video, the students sang a song in honor of Mr. Henry and we presented him with a book of letters from students and others, and a quilt containing the handprint of all current AES students and staff! Here are a few shots of the day and the movie.

STEP Express

Our fourth graders were involved in an athletic challenge to "step up to the challenge" of exercising more.  All of the 4th graders in the district were involved.  When the scores  were averaged out, Altamont had the highest average.

They came out today to present our award in a special assembly.

This student received an extra mile reward for "traveling" farthest in our class!

We were given this award money to buy athletic equipment with!

CEU Prehistoric Museum Trip

Today we went to Price to the CEU Prehistoric Museum on a field trip.  Meg Gardner was our tour guide through the museum.  We learned about dinosaurs in Utah and prehistoric man.

Part of our day was spent learning about making "Keys" to identify specific animals, etc.  That was hard and made us think a great deal!

We went outside and played a "predictor" game.  It was fun chasing our food or if we were the food trying to run away.

In the end we went after the biggest dinosaur by ganging up on him.
It was so much fun!

The students were excellent on this trip.  Special thanks to the parents who went with us!

Digging for Dinos

We are going on a field trip to Price Utah to the CEU museum tomorrow. To prepare we watched a video that I had about the excavation of the Huntington Mammoth. We then "excavated" our own dinosaurs bones.
